Last Saturday, I went to the post office to send a parcel to my older sister. Even though it was early morning, the counter was already crowded.

順番じゅんばんが来きて、係かかりの人ひとが「宛先あてさきをこの紙かみに記入きにゅうしてください」と言いった。ペンの字じが細ほそくて、少すこし書かきにくかった。

訳 English

When my turn came, the clerk said, "Please fill in the address on this paper." The pen's lines were thin, so it was a little hard to write.

中身なかみはガラスのコップだったので、割われないように新聞紙しんぶんしでしっかり包つつんだ。局員きょくいんは料金りょうきんをお調しらべになって、「追跡ついせきサービスとか速達そくたつとか、いろいろ選えらべますよ」と教おしえてくれた。

訳 English

The contents were a glass cup, so I wrapped it firmly in newspaper so it wouldn't break. The clerk checked the fee and told me, "You can choose various options, like tracking or express."

わたしは普通ふつうの方法ほうほうを選えらんで、切手きってだけ買かう列れつとは別べつの窓口まどぐちで手続てつづきをした。ちょうどそのとき、外そとで急きゅうに雨あめが降ふり出だした。

訳 English

I chose the ordinary method and did the paperwork at a different window from the line for people buying only stamps. Just then, it suddenly started to rain outside.

荷物にもつが届とどくまで三日みっかかかるらしい。姉あねが喜よろこんでくれるといいなと思おもいながら、家いえまで走はしって帰かえった。

訳 English

They said it takes three days until the parcel arrives. Hoping my sister would be happy, I ran home.
