For the past six months, my phone's battery has run down quickly. Even if I charge it in the morning, only half is left by noon. When I told a friend, they said, "Why don't you have them look at it in a shop?"

日曜日にちようびの午後ごごは店みせが混こむので、混こまないうちに行いこうと思おもった。十時じゅうじに携帯けいたいショップに着つくと、客きゃくはまだ二人ふたりだけだった。

訳 English

Shops get crowded on Sunday afternoons, so I thought I'd go while it wasn't crowded. When I arrived at the phone shop at ten, there were still only two customers.

店員てんいんは電池でんちの状態じょうたいを調しらべて、「もう四年よねん使つかっていますね。電池でんちだけ変かえることもできますが、機種きしゅを変かえたほうが安やすいかもしれません」と言いった。それから、「料金りょうきんの説明せつめいをしましょうか」と聞きいてくれた。

訳 English

The clerk checked the battery's condition and said, "You've been using it four years already. We can change just the battery, but changing the model might be cheaper." Then they asked, "Shall I explain the fees?"

わたしは毎日まいにち、ニュースとか地図ちずとかを見みるだけで、動画どうがはあまり見みない。それを伝つたえると、店員てんいんは今いまの契約けいやくより千円せんえん安やすいプランを見みせてくれた。

訳 English

Every day I only look at things like the news and maps; I don't watch videos much. When I told them that, the clerk showed me a plan a thousand yen cheaper than my current contract.

新あたらしい機種きしゅは画面がめんが大おおきくて、字じが読よみやすい。しかし、わたしの手てには少すこし持もちにくかった。それで、機種きしゅはそのままで、契約けいやくだけ安やすいプランにすることにした。字じも大おおきくしてもらった。

訳 English

The new model has a big screen and the letters are easy to read. But it was a bit hard to hold in my hand. So I kept the same model and just changed the contract to the cheaper plan. I also had them make the letters bigger.

手続てつづきには四十分よんじゅっぷんかかった。電話でんわの番号ばんごうは変かわらないと聞きいて安心あんしんした。店みせを出でたとき、外そとには長ながい列れつができていた。早はやく来きて本当ほんとうによかった。

訳 English

The paperwork took forty minutes. I was relieved to hear that my phone number wouldn't change. When I left the shop, a long line had formed outside. I was really glad I came early.
