N4 consolidation story #82. On a weekend the narrator goes to the supermarket, where a staff member offers a free sample of a new sausage. They taste it, chat while shopping, and decide what to buy for dinner. Recycles known N4 grammar and supermarket vocabulary. Patterns: 〜てみる, 〜ことにする, 〜ながら, 〜たら, 〜ほうがいい, 〜すぎる.

On Saturday afternoon I went shopping at a nearby supermarket. Near the entrance, a staff member was offering samples of a new sausage.

「無料むりょうですから、どうぞ食たべてみてください」と店員てんいんさんが言いった。一ひとつ食たべてみると、とても美味おいしかった。

店員てんいんさんと味あじについて話はなしながら、この商品しょうひんを買かうことにした。値段ねだんも安やすかった。

While talking with the staff member about the taste, I decided to buy this product. The price was cheap too.

それから、夕飯ゆうはんの野菜やさいも選えらんだ。トマトを三みっつも買かうと多おおすぎるので、二ふたつだけにしたほうがいいと思おもったからだ。

After that, I also chose vegetables for dinner. Buying three tomatoes would be too many, so I decided just two would be better.

会計かいけいを済すませて家いえに帰かえったら、さっそくソーセージを焼やいた。試食ししょくのおかげで、いい買い物かいものができた。

I finished at the checkout and when I got home, I grilled the sausage right away. Thanks to the sample, I was able to shop well.
