A short everyday story about reserving bread at a popular neighborhood bakery: asking permission to reserve, learning when to pick it up, and being glad the reservation saved the day before the bread sold out. Recycles six N4 grammar points: 〜ていただく, 〜てもいいですか, 〜ころには, 〜なくなる, 〜てよかった, and 〜てから.

先週せんしゅう、友達ともだちが「あのパン屋パンやのパンを予約よやくしてもいいですか」と店みせの人ひとに聞きいたので、私わたしも一緒いっしょに電話でんわで予約よやくすることにしました。

Last week, my friend asked the shop staff, 'May I reserve bread from that bakery?' so I decided to make a reservation together by phone.

店みせの人ひとは「予約よやくしたパンの受うけ取とりは、お店みせが開あいてから来きてください」と言いいました。

The shop staff said, 'Please come to pick up your reserved bread after the store opens.'

でも、朝早あさはやく行いかないと、10時じになるころには、人気にんきのパンはもう売うり切きれてしまいます。だから、予約よやくはとても便利べんりです。

But if you don't go early in the morning, by the time it's around 10 o'clock, the popular bread is already sold out. So reservations are very convenient.

予約よやくのおかげで、焼き立てやきたてのパンを店みせの人ひとに用意よういしていただきました。とても親切しんせつな店みせでした。

Thanks to the reservation, the shop staff prepared freshly baked bread for me. It was a very kind shop.

最近さいきん、仕事しごとが忙いそがしくて、朝あさごはんをゆっくり食たべる時間じかんがなくなりました。でも、あのパン屋パンやに予約よやくしてから、毎朝まいあさ焼き立てやきたてのパンが食たべられるようになりました。予約よやくしてよかったです。

Recently, I've been busy with work and no longer have time to eat breakfast slowly. But since I started reserving at that bakery, I've been able to eat freshly baked bread every morning. I'm glad I made the reservation.
