A short everyday story about taking a worn-out pair of shoes to a repair shop: asking the craftsman what to do, getting advice, waiting, and picking up the finished shoes. Recycles six N4 grammar points: なさる, 〜たらいいですか, 〜なさい, 〜方がいい, 〜と思う, and 〜てくれる.

職人しょくにんは「靴底くつぞこも修理しゅうりをなさいますか。」と聞きいた。「はい、お願ねがいします」と答こたえた。

The craftsman asked, "Will you also have the sole repaired?" I answered, "Yes, please."

職人しょくにんは「こちらで少々しょうしょう待まちなさい」と言いった。かばんを預あずけて、いすに座すわった。

The craftsman said, "Please wait here for a little while." I left my bag and sat down in a chair.

職人しょくにんは革かわの靴底くつぞこを縫ぬい、靴くつを直なおしてくれた。

The craftsman sewed the leather sole and fixed my shoes for me.

仕上しあがりは、とても早はやかった。料金りょうきんを払はらって、靴くつを受うけ取とった。きれいに直なおった靴くつを見みて、うれしかった。

The finish was very quick. I paid the fee and picked up my shoes. Seeing my shoes fixed so nicely made me happy.
