先週せんしゅう図書館としょかんで借かりた小説しょうせつを、まだ半分はんぶんしか読よんでいない。借かりたばかりのような気きがするが、返かえす期限きげんは明日あしたのはずだ。

訳 English

I've only read half of the novel I borrowed from the library last week. It feels like I just borrowed it, but the return deadline should be tomorrow.

期限きげんに気きがついて、あわてて受付うけつけに行いった。「この本ほんを延長えんちょうしたいんですが」と言いうと、係かかりの人ひとが手続てつづきをなさった。

訳 English

I noticed the deadline and hurried to the reception desk. When I said, "I'd like to renew this book," the clerk did the procedure (honorific).

「来週らいしゅうの金曜日きんようびまでに返かえしてください」と言いわれた。読よみ終おわるまで待まってほしいと思おもっていたので、うれしかった。

訳 English

I was told, "Please return it by next Friday." I had been hoping they'd let me wait until I finished reading, so I was happy.

いい小説しょうせつなので、ゆっくり読よみたい。こんどは期限きげんまでに読よみ終おわろうと思おもう。
