N4 consolidation story #133. The narrator visits the local library, fills in a form to make a user card, and borrows some books, chatting with the desk clerk about the rules. Recycles known N4 grammar with everyday library vocab. Patterns: 〜ば〜ほど, 〜ようと思う, 〜ように言う, 〜なくなる, 〜方がいい, 〜より〜ほうが.

Before you read — make your own sentences

Say what you plan to do with 〜ようと思う (例:今度図書館で本を借りようと思う).

係かかりの人ひとに聞きくと、「本ほんを借かりるなら、まず利用者りようしゃカードを作つくった方ほうがいいですよ」と言いわれた。

申込もうしこみ用紙ようしに名前なまえと住所じゅうしょを記入きにゅうして、係かかりの人ひとに申もうし込こんだ。すぐにカードを作つくってくれた。

カードができてから、本ほんの棚たなを見みて回まわった。やっぱり本ほんは買かうより借かりるほうがずっと安やすいと思おもった。

After the card was made, I walked around looking at the book shelves. As I thought, borrowing books is much cheaper than buying them.
