A short everyday story about visiting a pet shop to look at and choose a pet. Recycles six familiar N4 grammar points at spaced intervals: 〜だけ, 〜より〜のほうが, 〜づらい, 〜てほしい, 〜てあげる, and 〜にする.

Before you read — make your own sentences

Say what you want someone (or a pet) to do with 〜てほしい (例:元気に育ってほしい).
Compare two things with 〜より〜のほうが (例:子犬より子猫のほうが静かだ).
Say what you decide on with 〜にする (例:この子犬にする).
