Lost in an unfamiliar town, you ask a stranger for directions. This story recycles direction-giving grammar (〜と for natural consequence, 〜てください, 〜ながら, 〜たほうがいい) and the navigation vocabulary you'll use in a 道案内 roleplay.

Grammar

初はじめての町まちで、私わたしは道みちに迷まよってしまいました。地図ちずを見みても、自分じぶんがどこにいるか分わかりませんでした。

In a town I was visiting for the first time, I got lost. Even looking at a map, I couldn't tell where I was.

近ちかくの人ひとに「すみません、駅えきへ行いきたいんですが」と聞きいたら、その人ひとは親切しんせつに道みちを案内あんないしてくれました。

When I asked a person nearby, "Excuse me, I'd like to get to the station," they kindly showed me the way.

「この道みちをまっすぐ行いくと、大おおきい交差点こうさてんがあります。そこの信号しんごうを渡わたってください」と言いいました。

They said, "If you go straight down this road, there's a big intersection. Cross at the traffic light there."

「次つぎの角かどを右みぎに曲まがってください。そうすると、左ひだりに銀行ぎんこうが見みえます」

訳 English

"Turn right at the next corner. Then you'll see a bank on your left."

私わたしは教おしえてもらった通とおりを、地図ちずを見みながら歩あるきました。

I walked along the street they'd told me about, looking at my map.

やっと駅えきに着つきました。知しらない町まちでは、早はやめに人ひとに聞きいたほうがいいと思おもいました。
