I noticed that in eight months I had used the place four times. The person at the desk said nothing about it, and only told me that it stops at the end of this month. It took twenty minutes to fill in the form — longer than I had been told.

The next morning my muscles hurt and I went down the stairs slowly. I do not know whether my weight will come down. Last night, as I ran, I kept thinking back to the record on the screen at the desk. But the river is right in front of the house, and there is nothing to arrange. It may be over in three days, but it feels as though I could keep it up this time, and that was a small relief. The fifty-six thousand yen is not coming back; I have decided to think of it as tuition.
