The narrator catches a cold, runs a fever, and visits a clinic for the first time — checking in at reception, filling out a form, showing an insurance card, and waiting to be called. 朝あさから頭あたまが痛いたくて、熱ねつも高たかそうだった。どうやら風邪かぜをひいたようなので、近ちかくの病院びょういんへ行いくことにした。

Since morning my head had been hurting and my fever looked high too. It seemed I had caught a cold, so I decided to go to a nearby hospital.

この病院びょういんに来きたことがないのに、受付うけつけの人ひとはやさしくて、「はじめての方かたですね。まず保険証ほけんしょうを見みせてください」と言いった。

訳 English

Although I had never been to this hospital, the person at reception was kind and said, 'You're a first-timer, aren't you. First, please show me your insurance card.'

保険証ほけんしょうを出だしてから、受付うけつけの人ひとが問診票もんしんひょうをくれた。「今いまの症状しょうじょうをここに記入きにゅうしてください」と言いわれたので、熱ねつと頭痛ずつうのことを書かいた。

After I handed over my insurance card, the receptionist gave me a questionnaire. They told me, 'Please fill in your current symptoms here,' so I wrote about my fever and headache.

問診票もんしんひょうを出だしてから、待合室まちあいしつで待まった。人ひとが多おおくて、みんな眠ねむそうな顔かおをしていた。しばらくして、看護師かんごしさんが私わたしの名前なまえを呼よんだ。

訳 English

After handing in the questionnaire, I waited in the waiting room. There were many people, and everyone had a sleepy-looking face. After a while, a nurse called my name.

診察しんさつはすぐに終おわった。医者いしゃは「ただの風邪かぜですよ」と言いって、薬くすりを出だしてくれた。はじめは不安ふあんだったのに、今いまでは一人ひとりで病院びょういんに行いけるようになった。

訳 English

The examination finished quickly. The doctor said, 'It's just a cold,' and prescribed me some medicine. Although I was anxious at first, now I have become able to go to the hospital by myself.
