A quick stop at the convenience store after work: warming up a bento, paying the utility bill, using the copy machine, and choosing between rice balls. It recycles everyday preparation and obligation grammar — 〜ておく (do ~ in advance), 〜てしまう (end up ~ing), 〜そうだ (looks like ~), 〜ながら (while doing ~), 〜てもいい (is it okay to ~?), and 〜なければならない (must ~) — with convenience-store vocabulary you can reuse in a roleplay.

end up ~ / do completely (often an unintended result)

Before you read — make your own sentences

Use 〜てもいい: ask if it's okay to pay with e-money — 「電子マネーで払ってもいいですか。」

After work finished, I stopped by the convenience store near my house. I wanted to buy dinner, and I also had to pay the utility bill by the end of this month. Plus, my e-money balance was low, so I wanted to charge it too.

店みせの中なかに入はいると、おにぎりとお弁当べんとうがたくさん並ならんでいました。新あたらしい商品しょうひんを見みながら、どちらにするか考かんがえました。どのお弁当べんとうもおいしそうで、なかなか決きめられませんでした。

When I went into the store, there were lots of rice balls and bentos lined up. While looking at the new products, I thought about which one to choose. Every bento looked delicious, and I really couldn't decide.

レジに行いく前まえに、揚あげ物もののコーナーを見みました。から揚あげのいいにおいがして、つい一ひとつ買かってしまいました。それに、明日あしたの朝あさご飯はんのために、おにぎりをもう一ひとつ買かっておきました。

訳 English

Before going to the register, I looked at the fried food corner. The fried chicken smelled so good that I ended up buying one without meaning to. I also bought one more rice ball in advance for tomorrow's breakfast.

レジに行いって、店員てんいんさんにお弁当べんとうを温あたためてもらいました。店員てんいんさんが「お支払しはらいはどうなさいますか」と聞きいたので、「電子でんしマネーで払はらってもいいですか」と聞きくと、「はい、大丈夫だいじょうぶです」と答こたえました。

I went to the register and had the clerk warm up the bento. The clerk asked, "How would you like to pay?" so when I asked, "Is it okay to pay with e-money?" they answered, "Yes, that's fine."

公共料金こうきょうりょうきんの紙かみも持もって行いきました。それを店員てんいんさんに渡わたして、レジでいっしょに払はらいました。それから、コピー機きで大事だいじな書類しょるいもコピーしました。コンビニは本当ほんとうに便利べんりです。

I had also brought the utility bill slip. I handed it to the clerk and paid it together at the register. After that, I also copied an important document at the copy machine. Convenience stores are really convenient.

それから、レシートをもらって、袋ふくろに入いれてもらいました。買かい物ものが終おわって、少すこしほっとしました。

Then I got the receipt and had them put everything in a bag. Once the shopping was done, I felt a bit relieved.

家いえに帰かえって、温あたたかいお弁当べんとうを食たべました。とてもおいしくて、コンビニに寄よってよかったと思おもいました。
