N4 consolidation story #79. The narrator gets lost on the way to a museum and stops at a police box (交番) to ask a police officer for directions. Recycles known N4 grammar and everyday direction-asking vocabulary. Patterns: 〜たら, 〜方（かた）, 〜てくれる, 〜ながら, 〜てよかった, 〜たほうがいい.

I didn't know the way to the art museum, so I ended up getting lost. I walked while looking at a map, but I couldn't figure out the location at all.

近ちかくに交番こうばんがあったので、中なかの警察官けいさつかんに美術館びじゅつかんへの行いき方かたを聞きいてみた。

There was a police box nearby, so I tried asking the police officer inside how to get to the art museum.

警察官けいさつかんは地図ちずを見みせて、「この道みちを真まっ直すぐ行いって、二ふたつ目めの信号しんごうを曲まがったら、右みぎにありますよ」と教おしえてくれた。

訳 English

The police officer showed me the map and told me, 'Go straight down this road, and when you turn at the second traffic light, it'll be on your right.'

「その交差点こうさてんは人ひとが多おおいから、気きをつけたほうがいいですよ」とも言いってくれた。とても親切しんせつな警察官けいさつかんだった。

'That intersection has a lot of people, so you'd better be careful,' they also said for me. It was a very kind police officer.

教おしえてもらった道みちを歩あるいたら、すぐに美術館びじゅつかんが見みつかった。交番こうばんで聞きいてよかったと思おもった。

When I walked along the road they told me about, I found the art museum right away. I thought, 'I'm glad I asked at the police box.'
