A short everyday story about taking loose, crooked glasses to an optician and having the staff adjust the frames and check the fit. Recycles six N4 grammar points: 〜ところ, 〜ていただく, 〜より, 〜にする, 〜たい, and 〜ことができる.

毎日まいにち眼鏡めがねをかけているが、フレームがゆるくなって、少すこし曲まがってしまった。会社かいしゃへ出でかけるところだったが、眼鏡めがねの店みせに寄よることにした。

I wear my glasses every day, but the frame had gotten loose and slightly crooked. I was just about to head out to work, but I decided to stop by the eyeglasses shop.

店みせに入はいって、店員てんいんに「フレームがゆるいので、調整ちょうせいしていただきたいです」と言いった。

訳 English

I went into the shop and told the clerk, "The frame is loose, so I'd like to have it adjusted."

店員てんいんは眼鏡めがねを受うけ取とって、「右みぎが左ひだりより少すこし曲まがっていますね」と言いった。

訳 English

The clerk took my glasses and said, "The right side is bent a little more than the left, isn't it."

店員てんいんはフレームをゆっくり直なおしていただいた。それから「視力しりょくも調しらべましょうか」と聞きかれた。

The clerk slowly fixed the frame for me. Then they asked, "Shall we check your eyesight too?"

度どは今いまのままでにすることにした。フレームだけ直なおしてもらえば、まだ使つかうことができるからだ。

I decided to leave the lens strength as it is now. If I just have the frame fixed, I can still use these glasses.

調整ちょうせいが終おわって、もう一度いちど眼鏡めがねをかけてみた。耳みみにちょうど合あって、とても楽らくになった。遠とおくまではっきり見みることができて、うれしかった。

訳 English

When the adjustment was done, I tried putting the glasses on once more. They fit my ears just right and became very comfortable. I was happy I could see clearly into the distance.
