先週せんしゅう、博物館はくぶつかんへ行いこうとした。駅えきから歩あるいている間あいだに、道みちに迷まよってしまった。この町まちの道みちは分わかりにくい。

Last week, I set out for the museum. While I was walking from the station, I got lost. The roads in this town are hard to understand.

わたしは地図ちずを見みていた所ところだったが、やっぱり分わからなかった。近ちかくに交番こうばんがあったので、そこで道みちを聞きくことにした。

I was in the middle of looking at the map, but I still couldn't figure it out. There was a police box nearby, so I decided to ask the way there.

警察官けいさつかんは「博物館はくぶつかんは近ちかいだろう。この道みちを真まっ直すぐ行いきなさい」と言いった。

訳 English

The officer said, "The museum is probably close. Go straight down this road."

警察官けいさつかんは地図ちずで案内あんないしてくれた。「次つぎの信号しんごうを右みぎに曲まがって、交差点こうさてんを渡わたれば、すぐ見みえる」と教おしえてくれた。だれでも道みちに迷まようことがある、と警察官けいさつかんは笑わらった。

The officer guided me with a map. "Turn right at the next traffic light, and if you cross the intersection, you'll see it right away," he told me. Anyone gets lost sometimes, the officer said with a smile.

わたしは警察官けいさつかんにお礼おれいを言いって、真まっ直すぐ歩あるいた。信号しんごうを曲まがると、博物館はくぶつかんが見みえた。交番こうばんで聞きいてよかったと思おもった。

I thanked the officer and walked straight ahead. When I turned at the traffic light, I could see the museum. I thought it was good that I had asked at the police box.
