Your third N3 story — 7 new points (recognition only). With an exam coming up, you battle a room that's full of books and your own lack of motivation, until your mother gives some simple advice. New patterns: ばいい, だけ (as much as), だけでなく, だけど, だらけ, どんなに〜ても, どうしても.

ばいい

as much as ~ (できるだけ = as much as possible)

だけど

Before you read — make your own sentences

Notice how だけ shifts meaning: できるだけ (as much as possible) here, versus 〜だけ (only) elsewhere.
Spot the three だけ-family patterns and how they differ: だけ (as much as), だけでなく (not only… but also), だけど (but).
Optional: say one どうしても sentence out loud about a goal you want to reach no matter what.
