Even if all the necessary documents are ready, the counter is crowded and it takes time. I got a number at reception, lined up, and waited to be called.

やっと番号ばんごうが呼よばれた。担当たんとうの職員しょくいんは、住民じゅうみんに対たいしてとても丁寧ていねいで、記入きにゅうの仕方しかたを一ひとつ一ひとつ教おしえてくれた。大おおきな市役所しやくしょだけあって、対応たいおうがしっかりしている。

Finally my number was called. The staff member in charge was very polite toward residents and taught me how to fill in the forms one by one. As befits a large city hall, the handling was thorough.

「印鑑いんかんが必要ひつようかどうか確認かくにんしたいのですが」と聞きくと、「今日きょうは身分みぶん証明しょうめい書かだけで大丈夫だいじょうぶです」と言いわれた。

When I asked, "I'd like to confirm whether a seal is necessary," they told me, "Today just an ID is fine."

書類しょるいを提出ていしゅつして、無事ぶじに転入てんにゅうの手続てつづきが終おわった。これは引ひっ越こしに必要ひつような多おおくの手続てつづきの一ひとつにすぎないが、一ひとつ終おわると少すこし安心あんしんした。

訳 English

I submitted the documents, and the move-in procedure finished without trouble. This is nothing more than one of the many procedures needed for moving, but finishing one made me feel a little relieved.

私わたしは出でかける前まえに、必要ひつような書類しょるいを事前じぜんに調しらべて用意よういすることにしている。そうすれば、窓口まどぐちで慌あわてることが少すこなくなるからだ。

Before I go out, I make it a rule to check and prepare the necessary documents in advance. That way, I panic less at the counter.
