N3 consolidation story #42. On moving day the room is nothing but boxes; the narrator packs all day without resting, has no choice but to throw out the cheap-looking old furniture, wants to carry everything while it's still light out, and figures it would all get tidied up fast if only a friend would help. Recycles already-introduced N3 grammar with common vocabulary. Patterns: 〜ばかり, 〜ずに, 〜っぽい, 〜ざるをえない, 〜うちに, 〜さえ〜ば.

Grammar

〜ばかり

nothing but ~; only ~

名詞＋ばかり

甘あまいものばかり食たべる。

I eat nothing but sweet things.

〜ずに

without doing ~

動詞ない形の語幹＋ずに（するはせずに）

朝あさご飯はんを食たべずに出でかけた。

I went out without eating breakfast.

〜っぽい

~ish; looks/feels like ~

名詞・形容詞語幹＋っぽい

彼かれは子供こどもっぽい。

He is childish.

〜ざるをえない

have no choice but to ~

動詞ない形の語幹＋ざるをえない

台風たいふうだから中止ちゅうしせざるをえない。

Because of the typhoon, we have no choice but to cancel.

〜うちに

while ~ (still); before the state changes

Please eat it while it's hot.

〜さえ〜ば

if only ~; as long as ~
