Borrowing a Book at the Library — N3 Consolidation (Story #41)

N3 consolidation story #41. At the library the narrator searches for a book and finds it on the shelf, but it was returned with its cover left torn. They get so absorbed they forget the time, extend the loan just as the librarian advised, and — with a deadline looming — cannot simply fail to return it. The more you read, the more your knowledge grows. Recycles already-introduced N3 grammar with common vocabulary. Patterns: 〜たところ, 〜まま, 〜くらい, 〜とおりに, 〜わけにはいかない, 〜ば〜ほど.

Before you read — make your own sentences

State a result with 〜たところ (例:探したところ、本があった).
Describe an unchanged state with 〜まま (例:表紙が破れたまま返されていた).
State an unavoidable duty with 〜わけにはいかない (例:期限があるので返さないわけにはいかない).

図書館としょかんで読よみたい本ほんを探さがしたところ、棚たなにちゃんとあった。
