The narrator shops for a used car: asking the clerk many questions about the price, reasoning that low mileage means it isn't very old, feeling a popular color will surely sell fast, wanting a safe car even if it's a bit pricey, judging this shop tops the town for cheapness, and wishing they could buy a new one if only they had the money.
