N4 consolidation story #84. The narrator has started jogging and needs new sneakers, so they visit a shoe store. A clerk helps them find the right size and color, and the narrator tries several pairs before deciding. Recycles known N4 grammar and shoe-store vocabulary. Patterns: 〜てくれる, 〜ば, 〜かどうか, 〜くする・にする, 〜なければならない, 〜し.

店員てんいんさんが、足あしの大おおきさを調しらべてくれた。そして、その大おおきさの運動靴うんどうぐつをいくつか持もってきてくれた。

The clerk checked the size of my feet for me. Then they brought me several pairs of sneakers in that size.

まず青あおい靴くつを履はいてみた。足あしに合あうかどうか確たしかめるために、少すこし歩あるいてみた。

First I tried on the blue shoes. To check whether or not they fit my feet, I walked a little.

青あおい靴くつは軽かるいし、丈夫じょうぶそうだった。もっと明あかるい色いろが好すきなので、気持きもちを明あかるくするために、白しろい靴くつも試ためした。

The blue shoes were light and looked sturdy. But since I like brighter colors, to brighten my mood I also tried the white shoes.

足あしに合あえばどちらでもよかったが、白しろい靴くつが一番いちばん気きに入いった。これで明日あしたから気持きもちよく走はしれそうだ。

As long as they fit my feet either was fine, but I liked the white shoes the most. Now I feel I'll be able to run comfortably from tomorrow.
